The Study of the Quantitation for Immune Globulins (IgG, IgA and IgM) in Syphilis

Abstract
The sera of 86 patients with untreated secondary syphilis were analyzed by immunoelectrophoresis with the specific antisyphilitic rabbit serum. Twenty-seven out of the 86 sera (31.4%) showed more prominent IgA precipitate arcs as compared to the precipitate arcs of the normal serum. Fourteen out of the 86 sera (16.3%) showed more prominent IgM precipitate arcs as compared to the normal. However there was no specific abnormal precipitate line for the syphilis serum.
Quantitative analyses of the 86 sera from the syphilitics by the Lim¢¥s modification of the Oudin capillary tube method showed that the mean of the IgG level is 2.41553.2mg/100ml, IgA 2938.3mg/100m1 and Igbi 1023.6mg,/100m1. This result represents a statistically significant increases of immune globulin levels in the syphilitics as compared with the normal controls (p<0.05).
